Network Design and Maintenance
Most homes and businesses now have more than one computer on location. This usually results in the desire to have a network so some of the resources (like printers) on those computers can be shared. A common goal is to provide internet and e-mail access to all users with one single (high-speed) internet account.
Please note that the newest software and hardware do not always provide the most efficient solution! Sometimes it is smarter to let others stay on the bleeding edge of technology. The leading edge is always one step back... Support for some specialty software may be lacking in the newest operating systems!
Designing a proper network requires a great deal information:
- what will this network be used for
- is there any production equipment that needs to be connected
- what are the distances the network has to cross
- how many computers, and what type
- what operating systems are currently in use
- what types of data will be transferred
- does this network have to be part of a larger corporate network (man or wan)
- what type of security is required (and how much)
- will files be stored on a central server or locally on each machine (or both)
- what types of printers are currently in use
- are application servers required (fax, database, pos, ...)
- will a website or e-mail be hosted by the client
- how much expansion is anticipated in the next 3 to 5 years
- ...
We have years of experience in the hardware and networking field. This includes implementing the wiring and network devices (hubs, switches, routers,...) as well as configuring clients and setting up servers on various operating systems. We can also provide a structured wiring and storage solution that will leave your server room looking less like a nightmare and more like an office!
We will work with the customer to provide an integrated, functional network, that can be implemented with minimal business interruptions!
Remember, if you can dream it, we can build it!
